I loved this when I read it two months ago - and I identified. It's so nice to read some 'boasting' with love by a parent, as I've felt like that about my son, but not really had anyone to share it with, whereas there are so many articles/posts etc by parents sharing difficulties. My son is also very language-adept, speaks fluent Spanish but has learnt three other languages in secondary school and can still speak bits of each. Did 3 years of linguistics at uni. Discussing language - including the English language - with him is an ongoing pleasure. He also surprised people with his first word - a clear and directed "hello' from a backpack while walking with friends when he was 10 months old. Then when he began to speak, it was in pairs, with "here" and "there" as his next words. So I loved this, thanks for writing it.
So glad to hear this. And very glad to hear your son did linguistics. It was my sub major at uni and I loved it to be bits. Best units I ever did, I would say.
Beautifully written, and lovely to hear all that about baby Noah and man Noah! Wish I had that level of linguistic talent. It's a gift, and he's so lucky to have it, given his current circumstances. Give him my love. x
Do you have ready access to Gallic proud swollen paternal chest emoji?
On the look out, definitely
