Those comments about Westralia apply equally to Tasmania of course. Tasmania is perhaps even less prepared for a Covid wave than WA. I don’t think Premier Gutwein will be opening up to the “freedom loving” hordes of NSW any time soon.
Despite the supine British media, it seems to be an enormously long bow to conclude lack of media reports about Covid numbers means people aren’t worrying about cases and deaths!
You’re right Tim, as a citizen of the Independent Sovereign Nation of Westralia what all the freedom spruikers over east seem to be missing is that for the last 12 months those of us in the zero covid states have enjoyed pre-pandemic levels of freedom, marred only by the occasional short lockdown triggered by someone coming in from the plague states over east (I mostly jest about plague states). For all that Melbourne’s had 6 lockdowns, WA has had 4, they’ve just been mercifully much shorter, but with a long tail of precautionary restrictions.
So the pressure to open up to NSW’s version of “freedom” to us actually seems like we’re being invited to welcome in a death sentence, both for a certain percentage of our population and for our freedom. The price we pay for the freedoms we’re currently enjoying is not to be able to travel over east or overseas, but considering the risk of infection we’d be running if we did, only a tiny minority seem to be unhappy about the current arrangements 🤷🏼♀️
I’m watching the unlocking of NSW with great anxiety; I hope like hell it’s successful for them, because failure would be catastrophic and devastating.

All my US friends are surprised that we don’t have a clothes dryer in Brazil. I point out that we have a solar powered dryer that cost about ten US dollars.
